Our second type of underfloor heating means having electric heating elements installed into the concrete floor slab, creating an even, warm glow throughout the living space. It’s ideally suited to larger areas, such as living areas and kitchens. This system is cheaper to install and can run on ‘time-of-use’ energy tariffs, where available, to further minimise running costs.

In-slab systems are, as you may have guessed, installed directly into the slab as the floor is being made. They are therefore ideally suited to new builds, or can be incorporated into renovations which include new floors. This means that the heating system doesn’ t add any height to your floor level, as it sits inside the slab itself. Once the system is installed, the floor can then be finished with a wide range of materials, from marble to wood and even carpet.

Often working on night-time electricity tariffs (depending on the heat source), in-slab underfloor heating saves on bills while creating a constant ambient heat in the home, and of course, giving the luxury of a lovely warm floor surface. The concrete in the floor will also retain heat for hours, meaning less work for the boiler.
